Not all (foaming) hair color is created equal: Sublime Mousse True Black review

I tried this about three weeks after I tried the John Frieda color (my hair has been growing crazy fast lately) and I had pretty high hopes for it. Here is how it worked out:

Pros:

• Easy to use.

Cons:

• "True" Black is brown, apparently. I know black, and this wasn't black. I wasn't expecting a blue black, but this was almost more brownish than the John Frieda was. The color was not the same as the color the model's hair was, not even close. I have mid-brown hair naturally, so it wasn't like this color would have had to radically change my hair. 
• It made my hair feel roughish afterwards. Not terrible, but I used most of the conditioner right after using the dye.
• It stained my skin. I wasn't expecting it to, because the John Frieda one washed right off. This one left dark marks just like a regular dye would.
• My hair was dull-looking afterwards.

Mehs:

• The packaging. Everything was just sort of thrown in there, and the gloves seemed to be of exceedingly low quality. 

Overall, I would not repurchase or recommend to someone else. I would advise coughing up the extra $2-3 for the John Frieda dye, because there is a massive difference between the two. I was deeply disappointed with this color. 

P.S. The model is insanely gorgeous yes? I mean, her eyes, her facial structure, her hair. Wow! 

John Frieda Precision Foam Color 3N, Deep Brown Black Review

I have been dyeing my hair black for about a year now, and when I saw this dye at Target, I knew that I had to try it. Unfortunately, they don't make a true black — they only make it in a deep brown black, which is what I tried.

Pros:
The packaging was awesome. Everything inside the box was tidy, the instructions were easy to follow, and it did seem a bit more elegant than other box dyes that I have used.

It doesn't stain your skin. At all. I dye my hair every month, and I always do it on a Friday afternoon, so I have the weekend to try to get the dye off of my skin and scalp. With this dye, it just comes right off of your skin. This is a HUGE plus.

The scent. It doesn't smell bad, or have any sort of overpowering scent. I have tried a few dyes that, in trying to get away from the chemical scent, go way too far into the floral scents. This one doesn't.

Very easy to apply, and does exactly what it says it does. The color that it claims to be is the color it is.

My hair was very shiny and healthy looking after dyeing it. The dye itself seemed to moisturize my hair, and the little bottle of conditioner was amazing as well. I don't feel as though it is super damaging, unlike some other products I have used before. (Looking at you, Feria....)

Cons:

The only reason I don't plan to repurchase this dye is the limited color options. I like for my hair to be blue black, and their darkest is really a dark brown. A lovely color, but not what I want at this time. I do completely and utterly recommend this product to anyone who wants a color in their range.

Making a choice and sticking to it.

I dye my hair, and right now it is a blue-black color. I don't really look goth, but I am pale. I worry about seeming goth, and someone commented on it, and it freaked me out.

For the past two weeks I've contemplated going back to brown, even though I really love my current color.  I decided today that I'm not going to cave, and I'm going to continue dying it — life is too short to yield to someone else's opinions.
